Homelite UT80522G pressure washer review
This pressure washer from Homelite is gas-powered and claims 2,700 psi max with 2.3 gpm. It comes with four replaceable nozzle tips and solid wheels. It weighs 64 lbs.
For less money than most other gas pressure washer we tested, this Homelite model packs some nice features. In addition to powerful, effective cleaning, you get fuel shutoff, which draws gas from the fuel system to keep it from fouling parts. This is also the only model we tested that includes a low-oil shutoff. On the minus side, this washer lacks quick-connect attachments for the wand and pump. There’s a soap hose to an external container, not a built-in tank. And although we found the washer fairly loud, as with most other gas models, the 24-foot hose lets you keep it far enough away. (Note: Because of the greater risk of injury, Consumer Reports recommends no pressure washer that comes with a zero-degree replaceable nozzle or setting, no matter how well it cleans.)
Detailed Test Results
Easy to move and transport. Requires storage of gasoline. Hose inconvenient to store. Wand very easy to remove and use. Very easy to use and read on-off switch.
About
The Homelite UT80522G is part of the Pressure Washer test program. In our lab tests, Pressure Washer models like the UT80522G are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.
Cleaning: Versatility and efficiency in cleaning a range of surfaces. The better performers have multiple spray patterns that can cover various cleaning chores, from light, superficial cleaning to deep cleaning of concrete, decking, and other hard-to-clean surfaces.
Power: A combination of pressure, measured in pounds per square inch (psi), and flow, measured in gallons per minute (gpm). Higher pressure results in better cleaning of a given surface; coupled with a higher flow as well, you’ll get the job done the fastest.
Noise: A combination of measurements, based on dBA, reflecting the proximity of the operator to the pressure washer. While our Noise score averages measurements taken close by the machine and at the end of the hose’s typical reach, we strongly recommend hearing protection for working close by a gas-powered model in particular.
